Senior studio project responding to the 2020 Cornell Theme Park Engineering Groups’ ‘Theme Park Design Competition’. The prompt for the competition was to envision an expansion to the fictional Seas of Imagination aquarium in Vancouver, BC. Completed with my classmates Michelle Bootsma and Charlene Karl we presented a dramatic space extending onto the Fraser River, filled with exhibitions exploring the history of the Fraser River valley, entitled Aqualab
My contribution was design and visualization of the signature attraction housed in the Aqualab. Mission: S is a thrilling family attraction using trackless multi-mover vehicles through a two storey space of practical effects and digital projection screens.
We were proud to be selected as not only the overall winners of the 2020 Theme Park Design Competition, but also the Innovation, Master Planning and Development challenge categories.
The entire project was done with a variety of tools, with the majority of the Mission: S attraction being modelled and designed in SketchUp within a framework provided by Rhino. Visuals were produced in photoshop with base images from VRay and SketchUp’s native style options. Final package preparation was completed with Adobe Creative Suite.
